If you are one of the unlucky individuals who have suffered an instance in which untreated tooth decay or severe tooth damage was too significant to be treated with a root canal, you may need to have the tooth extracted. Following tooth extraction, you have many options to replace the tooth, including receiving a dental bridge.

A dental bridge is a tooth replacement appliance made of two dental crowns on either side of one or more artificial teeth, and it is anchored in place using abutments formed from the two neighboring teeth. To form the abutments, Dr. Shahnam Amini removes the tooth enamel from these teeth so that they form posts, leaving the dentin as a small, protective sheath surrounding the pulp and root. We will then send a detailed impression of the abutments and their neighboring teeth to a dental lab to serve as a guide for the technicians as they create the new dental bridge.

You will need to revisit the office for a brief second appointment when the bridge is ready so that we can remove the temporary crowns placed over the abutments and cement your dental bridge into place.

If you’ve had a tooth removed, we encourage you to call 713-644-4446 and schedule a time to see our dentist at Centro Family Dental to discuss your tooth restoration options and determine if you need a dental bridge in Houston, Texas.
